Plasma diagnostics on tokamak and stellarator nuclear fusion experiments are relatively well developed. This is due to the well-understood interactions between millimetre waves and plasma. This enables measurements of plasma parameters such as temperature, density and magnetic fields down to scale lengths of the wavelength, ie millimetres. As millimetre wave technology and techniques evolve, these plasma diagnostic capabilities will be enhanced. Full radar polarimetry can offer some novel capabilities in this area
